After returning from a two-week work trip, I wanted to take my dogs on an epic road trip through the American Southwest. Known for its dry climate, breathtaking scenery and wild landscapes, the Southwest is a must-visit region. He is also a unique dog. From Arizona to Utah, here are the best places in the Southwest to travel with your pet.

The hike to Devil’s Bridge is of moderate difficulty and is crowded during peak times. There are two ways to start the Devil’s Bridge Trail from the main park. Both take you to the same destination, but one takes you on a dusty 4×4 road and the other takes you on a long journey through the desert.

It is only about a mile walk from the parking lot for high license vehicles. Very easy for our dog. At some point you will see a hole in the road. Turn left and you will be under the Devil’s Bridge. The path to the right leads to the top of Devil’s Bridge. The road is rocky and requires several climbs and steps.
You climb 2 natural stone steps that reach the bridge. After you climb the first steps, you will enjoy the first sight of the smell of earth.

Traveling with three dogs brings many challenges. Imagine going on a road trip with your dog and every restaurant you visit must be pet-friendly. And when it comes to sitting, things are even more difficult.
That’s why we chose glamping. Many campgrounds and Airbnbs offer “glamping” in Arizona. Glamping is perfect for anyone who wants to spend a relaxing vacation surrounded by nature. Luckily, we stumbled upon a pet-friendly glamping spot in Williams – Grand Canyon Glamping Eco Yurt.
This home is perfect for couples, families or groups looking to enjoy nature. There is a separate shower and an outdoor sunbath near the tent. They charge a $10 pet cleaning fee which is very reasonable. Our three dogs had a great time for the first time! Read about our glamping experience here.

Vacation Home In Sedona, Arizona
All breeds of dogs are allowed at no additional charge and must be kept on foot, groomed and under the supervision of their owner at all times. Dogs are allowed in all areas of the park, but not in buildings. Check out my complete guide to Monument Valley here.
You’ve probably seen pictures of the beautiful Horseshoe Bend. This place has become popular in recent years thanks to Instagram, and trust me when I say it’s even more amazing to me. Horseshoe Bend attracts visitors with its short hike (only 20 minutes) and spectacular views.
The best thing about Horseshoe Bend is that it is dog friendly. Dogs are welcome at Horse Elbow as long as their companion is kept on a leash no longer than 1.80m. The dog must always be physically protected by its companion.
A line of people approached the site, waiting for someone to take a picture of them or take a few selfies. When we got to the edge, my three dogs ran through the rocks and looked down 1,000 feet, to the delight of some and the horror of others.

My advice is to be very careful around the edges as there are no seams there. Be careful of others as your dog may be unaware of himself or others and accidentally bump into one and get scared (tourists stand too close to the shore here to take selfies!!!)
Coral Sand Dunes is a very beautiful place with warm pink sandy beaches. The park is located southeast of Zion National Park and offers views of the Zion region.
The first thing you notice when you get off the boardwalk and hit the sand is how incredibly soft it is. The fine, soft sand felt like a fluffy, comfortable blanket.
We got to the park early in the morning (7-8am) so there wasn’t much traffic outside of the highway in the dunes. From my research, OHVs are a major obstacle for visitors because they can use 90% of the park, so there is no way to get around them. But luckily no one was there and we had the whole place to ourselves. So I let my dogs run around freely.

Our dogs ran up the hill, howling with joy. And we sat there, looking at the glittering sand and admiring the view.
Babylon Arch is a short and easy hike with little elevation gain. It’s a short family trip to and from the Virgin River. The road is very sandy, it is difficult to leave the mountain.
Four wheel drive is required to access the road. That’s why there was no one here except us. Our dogs roamed freely again. The hike is nice, but there is no shade, so bring plenty of water. Along the way, it doesn’t take long to feel like you’ve landed on Mars, with all the cold rock formations around you.

Located 50 miles northeast of Las Vegas, Nevada, Valley of Fire National Park is a spectacular desert landscape of bright red cliffs, pink canyons and rock formations.
Valley of Fire is a smaller park, but there is a lot to explore. If you have time to walk, there are miles of pet-friendly trails. One of our favorite songs here is Wave of Fire. Not to be confused with The Wave in Page, AZ, this wave is a colorful wave that creates a wave-like feature. Take the time to explore the area around you, because around every corner another beautiful place will catch your eye.
Our last stop before heading home was Las Vegas. I’m not saying this stop is friendly, but I want to list it here and show the full journey. There are many pet-friendly Airbnbs in Las Vegas. We found a great house near the Strip and on the last day of our trip we took our fur babies to a hot bath (they were pretty dirty after a week in the Southwest) and walked around Venice.
Traveling with three dogs brings many challenges. Despite the challenges and extra planning, we bonded and the experiences we had together were worth it.
