We saved one of the most important parts for last. Echo Point Lookout is home to the Three Sisters – an Aboriginal sanctuary with stunning views over the valley. Be sure to take the short path to the east to reach the Honeymoon Bridge, which connects to Bridge 1 and the Lady Games Observation Deck. .
Echo Point is very popular with tourists and has a visitor center, toilets, water fountains and trash cans. There might be a few people around, so be patient – someone might even take your picture!

Now that you’re close to the head of Echo Point, you’ll be able to see Narrow Neck Heights, Ruined Castle and, on a clear day, Kanangla’s Great Wall, Kanangla Great Wall and the Wild Dog Mountains!
You might think it’s not a very creative name for a lookout on the Grand Cliff Top Walk, but due to the nature of the valley, the Cliff View Lookout offers views of the cliffs at Scenic World. You’ll see cable cars, the Scenic Railway and, if you look closely, the Furber Steps that extend into the valley.
You will cross the Katoomba Falls Cliffs where the Kedumba River begins before flowing into the Katoomba Falls Valley. The site is managed by the Blue Mountains City Council and is famous for being lit up at night until 11pm.
Congratulations! You will arrive at Scenic World to see a large vintage steam engine and complete the Great Cliff Top Walk.

When we visit Colorado, we walk as much as possible – usually just the two of us, but sometimes friends or family join us. Whether you live in Denver or are traveling from the ocean, it’s important to understand the altitude when traveling in the Rockies, and that’s true for people and dogs alike! The first few days in Colorado, Alice and I hiked up a small hill for about a mile. The sun is very strong in the summer – wear sunscreen and watch out for black or especially furry pups. Even if you plan on walking a mile or two, bring plenty of water for you and your pup! Take regular breaks and be careful with your energy levels.
I’ve divided these dog-friendly hikes into two groups: hikes that are an hour or less from Denver and hikes that are one to two hours from downtown Denver. This is an estimate, if you live outside of Denver, driving times may vary! Unfortunately, there aren’t many options for traveling without a car. Some of these walks are rough and bumpy dirt tracks…so a higher terrain vehicle is recommended. Also note that your mobile provider may not work at the beginning of your route! So even if you can’t connect directly to Google Maps, keep track of your directions and where you live to get home.

Most hiking deep in the mountains can only be done (easily) from late spring to early spring. Even in June and July, there is a lot of snow in the higher areas, so the roads will be wet or muddy. You can check the reviews on All Trails or other websites about the specific trail you want to hike to check the latest trail conditions.
Run around snow-capped glaciers and walk through glacial lakes that melt in spring. The hike to the beach is short, about 3/4 mile, but steep and rocky. However, I recommend continuing along the coast and climbing the glacier! You can also camp here. There are two parking lots on both sides of the road, a $5 fee, and restrooms in each parking lot.
This four-mile moderate trail is located near St. Petersburg. Mary leads to glacial trails and stunning mountain lakes. The roads leading to the lake are mostly roads, but the location is beautiful. The lake itself is beautiful and you can walk around it or go into the lake if you dare! On a weekday in July, there weren’t many people on the road.
The Eagle View Trail in Reynolds Park is one of my favorite attractions! You can see Pikes Peak and many other mountains. Plenty of shade, creek access, and usually not crowded. This moderately difficult (and sometimes steep) four-mile loop trail near the conifers is highly recommended. There is free parking at the Reynolds Park Trailhead and there are restrooms!
Colorado’s Dog-friendly National Parks — Adventures Of Alice Bug
Alice and I love this park. There are several different trails, all of which are easily accessible on foot – some are just for hiking, others are great for hikers, hikers, and horseback riders. All trails are dog-friendly and keep them six feet apart. One of the closest trails is the Fiddler Trail behind the visitor center. The trail is full of wildflowers in spring and late summer, and spectacular golden aspens and fall foliage in September/October. But it’s worth going to Panorama Point and driving the Mule Deer Track or the Raccoon Track for the spectacular views. When you arrive, pay $10 per day at the visitor center (with restrooms). You can also camp here!
In early April, I ran a moderate four-mile trail with my mom, Alice, and Emmy. There was a lot of snow on this trail so you used Yaktrax tows where you can wear your hiking boots/shoes. The snowy mountains are very beautiful – the contrast between the trees and the white ground is amazing. There are many viewpoints, including one of Mount Evans.
Echo Lake itself is beautiful and makes a great stop if you’re heading up Blue Sky Mountain (the highest paved road in North America). The trail is really fun with great views and creek crossings. The main part of the trail is about an hour’s drive from Denver.
The view from the Continental Divide observation deck is beautiful. It’s really steep in parts and you’ll pass some amazing hotel ruins on the way up! I would park here and hike 3-4 miles up Fowler’s Trail to Rattlesnake Gulch Trail (depending on whether you choose to loop). Parking is $10 and there are restrooms at the Fowler Trail entrance.
