Halibut Point State Park is a coastal park featuring a granite quarry, nearly three miles of trails, and scenic views. The grounds also include a visitor center and a tower that resembles a lighthouse.

The 10 Best Dog-friendly Holidays In The Uk For 2024

Halibut Point is one of our favorite destinations in Massachusetts. The path begins in the forest before reaching the tower and continues towards the quarry. We never miss the opportunity to take photos of the tower before admiring the unusual geological features of the quarry.

The trail circles the quarry and offers plenty of opportunities to stand on rock ledges and enjoy the panoramic views.

As the path heads towards the coast, the rocks can be difficult for those with limited mobility. But for dogs, it offers great opportunities to jump off rocks, explore tide pools, and relax to enjoy the therapeutic sounds of crashing waves.

If you like rocky coastlines or quarry geology, this is your place!

One of New England’s most recognizable landmarks is the covered bridge. Originally built to protect bridges from the harsh New England winters, covered bridges have a unique style.

You may not have thought about adding a covered bridge to your itinerary, but it’s a must-see when exploring New England! And almost all decks are completely pet friendly!

Some covered bridge adventures have been short-lived. I took the time to confidently pose and feel the new place. Others enjoy hiking or picnicking on the sand or rocks below the bridge.

The White Mountains cover about a quarter of New Hampshire and a small part of western Maine. With 48 peaks over 4,000 feet, it is popular for skiing, hiking and mountain biking.

For a quick tour of the White Mountains, take the Kancamangus Highway. Some of the best stops along the way are Rocky Gorge, Lincoln Woods, and Sabbaday Falls.

You will find endless hiking trails, from the easiest to the most demanding. Many also contain lakes, waterfalls and running water. My favorites are Arethusa Falls, Basin-Cascade Trail, Ripley Falls, Ammoonsuc Trail, and Lonesome Lake. And almost all hikes in the White Mountains are pet friendly!

If you love the outdoors, chase waterfalls, or love perfect views, this is the place for you!

15 Most Dog Friendly Cities In The Us To Visit In 2024

Cape Cod is a peninsula in the Atlantic Ocean, located in the southeastern tip of Massachusetts. It is a popular summer destination known for its relaxed lifestyle, and tourists come for its beaches, lighthouses, swimming pools, villages, seafood restaurants, and wharf restaurants.

We love Cape Cod especially in the off-season, as it’s one of the most dog-friendly places in New England. And there are a lot fewer people! However, many places allow pets all year round. This is especially true in Provincetown, which sits at the tip of the peninsula.

Cape Cod souvenirs include beaches, lighthouses, and Nickerson State Park. But we also visited gardens and windmills and even went shopping with the dogs.

There are endless beaches to choose from, but our favorites are Town Neck Beach, which has a beautiful boardwalk, and Cahoon Hollow Beach, which requires a long walk along the sand dunes. One aspect of Cape Cod that I love is the sand dunes, a beautiful and unusual place in New England.

Gillette Castle is our favorite destination in Connecticut. The province was once the private residence of William Gillette, a famous actor of the early 1900s. Later purchased by the State of Connecticut, the park now surrounds the famous Gillette Castle and includes a visitor center, museum, walking trails and picnic areas. Live theater events and walking tours are also available for visitors!

We love strolling along trails, enjoying the views over the Connecticut River, crossing ponds, and discovering country bridges.

In addition to enjoying the scenery, we like to stroll outside the castle. The intricate details and grandiose architecture of these fieldstone structures certainly do not disappoint. Pets are not allowed inside the buildings, but every time I visit this park I seem to discover a new feature to admire.

So if you like the Middle Ages, river views or hikes in the woods, this is your place!

Pet Friendly Things To Do In Boston, Ma

Wolfe’s Neck Woods State Park covers approximately 250 acres on a peninsula between Casco Bay and the Harraseeket River. It contains a diverse ecosystem and is famous for the local ospreys which nest on Guggins Island. Open year-round, the park is popular for bird watching, walking, educational programs and picnicking.

Wolfe’s Neck Woods State Park is the latest addition to the list of dog-friendly activities in New England. With miles of trails, ospreys among the trees, and stunning ocean views, we love the diversity of scenery.

Several routes offer the opportunity to get closer to the water through sandy beaches, steps and rugged rocky slopes. But my favorite thing about Wolfe’s Neck Woods is the view of Casco Bay from above the shoreline.

Dog Mountain is a 150-acre dog-friendly mountaintop sanctuary in St. Johnsbury, Vermont. The building was owned by Stephen Huneck, a talented artist, furniture maker, sculptor and writer.

Sadly, Huneck passed away at the age of 61. But his vision lives on with Mountain’s Dog Chapel, an art gallery and numerous pet-friendly trails and ponds. We also organize dog-friendly events such as parties and concerts.

The Dog Chapel, a memorial to fallen four-legged friends, is a place of healing for anyone who has lost a four-legged friend. Pictures and notes about deceased animals cover the walls several layers deep. And every detail of the chapel is exquisite, from the dog sculptures in the nave to the stained glass windows and statues.

My second favorite thing about Dog Mountain is the gallery which features art created by Huneck and many other products. The best thing about this gallery is that your dog can do his shopping right near your home. All proceeds help keep Dog Mountain running, so be sure to support this great place.

Finally, you won’t want to miss the walking trails, swimming pools, and other features of the property. The route is simple but picturesque, especially in autumn. There is a beautiful pond where canine friends often gather and play. And you can find dog statues everywhere, decorating fences and other special treasures scattered throughout the area. I can promise you that you’ve never seen anything like this!

If you love animals or have lost a precious pet, this is your place!

Every New England state has a lighthouse, with Maine having the largest. For a true New England experience, you must visit a lighthouse. And you’ll be happy to know that many lighthouses are pet-friendly!

Some of our lighthouse adventures included distant views. Others include hiking around the park where it is located.  And of course, each of these tours included dozens of photos to commemorate our trip and these amazing structures.

Acadia National Park covers 47,000 acres in northeastern Maine. It is popular with fall foliage enthusiasts, winter skiers, hikers and fishermen.

Best Dog-friendly Hotels In The Lake District

We loved our visit to Acadia National Park, one of the most beautiful and dog-friendly places in New England. The landscape is unique and beautiful, with trees rising from the rocky coast and waves crashing dramatically against the rocks. And exploring sunrises and sunsets adds a magical touch to these breathtaking views.

We are far from experts in this park. However, our adventures included a walk around Jordan Pond and a visit to Cadillac Mountain.

There are a few hikes I’d like to try when we return. Most activities at Arcadia allow dogs, including the park shuttle. However, there are some places where this is not the case, so be sure to try it.
