Dog Friendly Holidays Qld

I’m Sasha, great Dane mother and owner of Arctic Mist. Years ago, I never traveled abroad for more than a few months. But times have changed and in recent years the Great Dane has become more popular on local tours, particularly in south-east QLD. Sadly, Mr. Pickle passed away last year. However, we recently welcomed a Danish mastiff puppy into our family. He follows Pickles and has many adventures. .

Pet Friendly Holiday Houses

So I thought I’d share some of my favorite dog friendly accommodation in South East QLD, including links to activities and accommodation.

But before we go any further, if you’ve never traveled with a dog before and don’t know where to start, check out my blog.

There are plenty of dog friendly camps around Australia, but Hip Camp is a good place to start. If you enter the number of pets in your search, the results will only show pet-friendly types.

One of my favorite dog friendly campsites is Gordon Country in the Gombra Valley. It’s just over two hours from Brisbane, above Cunningham Gap, between Aratula and Warwick. We have camped there many times, but the first time we went many years ago (long before the salt days) the conditions here were nothing. A lot has changed in the last few years, and now there are options like flash sites and cabins.

Dog-friendly Facilities And Accommodation At Big4 Parks

The property and campground are dog friendly, but dogs are not allowed inside the cabin (only the protected gardens and balconies). That’s why I never stayed in one room. If you go outside of school or on vacation, you can get yourself a place along the stream. However, you will need a 4WD to take advantage of the best campsites. Access to Gordon Country is via a dirt road and there are 4WD accessible areas near the entrance and office.

Dogs are allowed to jump. However, be aware that cows and donkeys roam the premises. I love going there to relax around the campfire, but is the 4WD and hiking trails too much? If you don’t mind the cold, you can swim in the current. If you go in winter, wear warm clothes. It’s very cold.

There are various campsites on North Stradbroke Island. Dog rules are always changing. We therefore recommend checking the Stradbroke Island website for the latest information on dog-friendly campsites and beaches. Stradbroke Island is a 45-minute ferry ride from Cleveland. There is public transport on Stradbroke Island, but if you are bringing your dog we recommend taking the ferry by car. If you leave your car on the ferry, your dog must be muzzled. Some holiday homes on Stradbroke Island allow dogs. See below for details.

Whether you’re looking for a vacation home or apartment, Dog Vacations is the best website for finding dog-friendly accommodations. Each property has pet-friendly amenities, including whether the property is fenced, whether dogs are allowed, or whether bedding, litter, litter bags, etc. are available for me.

Pet Friendly Accommodation Gold Coast

Some places only allow dogs outdoors or of a certain size, so read the conditions.

. If you are unsure of the terms and conditions, please contact your accommodation provider before booking. It’s better to figure things out ahead of time before problems arise mid-vacation.

Also, make sure that it is suitable for the location of your accommodation. For example, is your dog comfortable with stairs or an elevator? If you are not sure, contact us and don’t hesitate to ask. .

We stayed in a lovely 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom apartment (Perfect Alex Beach Pad) at Alexandra Headland, north of Mooloolaba on the Sunshine Coast. The apartment is located on the second floor and is accessible via stairs. However, there is a large balcony with a great view, so you don’t feel like you’re in an apartment. Dogs are allowed in the house, but not on the furniture or in the common pool area. .

North Stradbroke Island Pet-friendly Holiday Rentals

Headland and Mooloolaba are within walking distance. Mooloolaba Promenade is full of dog-friendly restaurants with outdoor seating and hosts a daily sunset market.

Mooloolaba Beach is not dog friendly. However, Alexandra Headland Beach is a dog-friendly beach and there are several dog-friendly beaches within walking distance.

Noosa Avalon Cottages is situated on 30 acres, 5 minutes from Pomona and approximately 30 minutes from Noosa. The site has five individual homes, ranging from a one-bedroom cottage to a three-bedroom farmhouse. All rooms are dog friendly and dogs are welcome. We stayed in a two-bedroom, one-bedroom Kangaroo Lodge. The cottage is beautiful and has great living space with great views and a huge spa. Although the bed is small (double), it is recommended for a quiet weekend.

Some cottages have dog-proof rooms. Kangaroo Lodge has a protected garden, but the fence is for cattle, not dogs. But that wasn’t a problem for the Great Dane. The property is perfect for nature walks, with lots of wildlife and birdlife, and you’ll be sure to keep an eye on your dog while the cows roam free.

Pomona is a small country town with several restaurants, coffee shops and an IGA supermarket. A dog-friendly local market is held at Stan Topper Park on Saturday mornings. There are many shops selling local arts, crafts and food.

Toowoomba is QLD’s largest inland city and is known as the Garden City. In spring, many people come to see the carnival of flowers. It is a very beautiful city with many parks and gardens.

We have been to Toowoomba several times. But my favorite is the cozy cat cottage in Toowoomba. Beautifully renovated three bedroom Queenslander cottage. Listed on Heritage Road are three workers’ cottages. This heritage listed cottage retains all the details and atmosphere of its traditional charm, but has been updated to offer modern facilities. Downstairs there are two queen bedrooms and two bunk rooms suitable for children. There is a large ensuite bathroom, an electric fireplace in the living area and a small/medium dog friendly dog kennel on the back porch. The yard is fully fenced but there are steps to access the garden from the yard.

Dogs are allowed in the cottage, but not in the carpeted bedrooms or sofas. The bathroom and kitchen are well equipped and there were even biscuits for the dog when we arrived! The hosts, Janice and Michael, were lovely. We would definitely stay there again. .

Pet-friendly Accommodation Caloundra

Mudjimba is a quiet little beach resort in Sunshine Coast, close to Sunshine Coast Airport. There is a dog-friendly park on the promenade overlooking Mudjimba Beach. North Shore Dog Beach, south of Mudjimba on Twin Waters, has been rated as one of the best dog friendly beaches on the Sunshine Coast.

Mudjimba Vacation Rentals has pet friendly accommodation options and Kirsty was very accommodating. We stayed in a lovely 4 bedroom house in a lane across the road from the park. We went out with our family and brought our two dogs (a Great Dane and the family’s senior dog). A dog is allowed in the house, but not on the furniture.

Down the street there is an outdoor Italian restaurant and cafe.

If you own a boat or love the sea, Hervey Bay is a must-see. We went with a friend and stayed at Sandpiper, a lovely 4-bedroom property in Crane, just 10 minutes north of central Hervey Bay. Craynish is a quiet place to stay but it was perfect for us as it has a large garden for the kids and puppies and plenty of space to keep the boat. The house has everything you need.
