Located three miles south of Scarborough, this quiet unspoiled beach is a hidden gem as its large wave of fine sand remains calm all year round. There is something wild about the bay, whose slow waves make it ideal for surfers and windsurfers. Backed by towering cliffs formed in the Jurassic period some 150 million years ago, it’s also a great place to hunt for fossils.

A walk along this beautiful beach is a walk through English history, as the stretch of sand is surrounded by some of the country’s most interesting landmarks. Beyond the beach is the magnificent Bamburgh Castle, a Norman fortress dating back to the 6th century. Opposite the coast is the Inner Farnes, home to hermits and monks from the 7th to 16th centuries, and a walk north leads to Stags Rocks, impressive cliffs surrounded by several interesting rock pools.
The Best Dog Friendly Beaches In Cornwall
Located directly opposite the Lancashire Coastal Path, close to Marton Mere Nature Reserve, this beautiful beach has been voted one of the best places for dogs in the UK. At low tide, a vast stretch of golden sand slopes gently into the water, providing the perfect place for your dog to run free. Best seen are the remains of an abandoned, sunken ship, partially buried in the sand.
One of the few west-facing beaches in East Anglia, this stretch of sand is sheltered from the sea breeze and is also one of the best places to see a spectacular sunset in Norfolk. The pristine shoreline is cleaned daily, making it a safe and pleasant place for your dog to exercise. The shallows are perfect for paddling and swimming, and the creature-filled rock pools and fossil-filled cliffs offer no shortage of treasures to discover.
Two miles of golden coastline with dozens of stunning sand dunes make this seaside resort in East Sussex a dog-friendly adventure destination. Have a picnic among the sand dunes, comb the beach for washed up treasures or visit the many cafes in the nearby village of Camber. With so much to do, it’s no wonder it’s one of the most popular holiday destinations in Southern England during the summer months.
Located a short walk from Margate town centre, this flat open beach is particularly popular with dog walkers. If your pup craves company, this is the place to find it, but that doesn’t mean this sandpit is overcrowded. Despite its popularity, this place is rarely as busy as nearby beaches and is kept clean throughout the year.

Secluded and romantic, this cozy cove has a poetic, old-world feel. One of Britain’s most picturesque beaches, it’s perfect for a leisurely game of fetch or a photo in front of the stunning Cornish cliffs. At low tide, the sea gives way to smooth golden-white sand, famous for once being the home of the Carters, an 18th-century smuggling family.

At low tide, the water recedes to reveal a series of beautiful rock pools filled with fascinating sea creatures, and the nearby village has a range of restaurants, shops and dog-friendly cafes.
Set back from the road, this rural beach is less busy than others in the area. There is a vast stretch of golden sand that provides a secluded area where dogs can run, jump or paddle in the shallow water. The peace and quiet also attracts some of Britain’s rarest and most amazing wildlife, making it a great spot for birdwatching and fishing. This sheltered beach, located west of the New Embankment, is mostly quiet and provides a peaceful place to enjoy the sea air. With views over Cardigan Bay, many visitors come here just for the spectacular sunsets. Looking out over the Welsh Sea, you can see pods of dolphins or seals swimming past.
Ideal for walking, water sports and stunning views, this three-mile stretch of golden white sand was voted Wales’ best beach in 2018. The long and scenic walking paths are the perfect place to let your dog exercise while enjoying some of the most good views in the area including Worms Head and the wider Hover Coast Path.
Surrounded by sand dunes and distant mountain scenery, the view from this secluded beach is unmatched by any low vantage point in Scotland. From the center of the beach you can see some of the most majestic mountain views in the Highlands, with different visual delights in every direction. The clean white sand is perfect for your dog to run free and the shallow water is perfect for paddling.
This gorgeous, undiscovered beach just up the coast from Fraserburgh is one of Scotland’s hidden gems. Perfect for a private getaway, chances are you’ll have this sandy spot to yourself. But the lack of fame does not mean that he has nothing to offer. An isolated stretch of sand with grassy dunes, this area is considered one of the sunniest in Scotland. An incredible view of the North Sea opens from here, and at the right time of the day you can see seals sleeping in the sand.

This wide stretch of sand, located between the towns of Saltcoats and Ardrossan, offers incredible views across the Firth of Clyde and the mountainous Isle of Arran. Facing the southwest, away from the prevailing winds, the flat open space along the long esplanade is ideal for hunting games, long quiet walks or family picnics. The shallows across the bay are great for paddling or washing sandy feet.
There are two things we know for sure about dog-friendly kennels; the beach is a great place for dogs, and dogs love the beach. The sea, sand and rolling dunes make the beach a paradise for our four-legged friends, with plenty to do and see. From digging to paddling to chasing seagulls on the shore, your dog will definitely want to be by the sea.
While we love our furry friends, we have to admit; dogs can be dirty puppies. Some beaches do not allow dogs due to excessive trash that can be left on the shore. But don’t let that fool you into thinking that dog-friendly beaches are dirty. Most “dog-friendly” beaches, especially those we recommend with kennels, make an extra effort to stay clean, making many of them more hygienic than their dog-free neighbors.
In the UK and Ireland, if a beach is “dog-friendly” or “dog-friendly”, it usually means that there are no or minimal restrictions on where dogs are allowed to go and what time of year they are allowed to go there. Although we encourage you to check before you pack up and head home, “dog-friendly” and “dog-friendly” beaches generally welcome four-legged friends year-round – even during summer. In contrast, access to beaches marked “restricted to dogs” will be restricted. This restriction is often a seasonal ban, meaning that dogs will not be allowed on the beach from May to September.
