Dog Friendly Vacations Florida – You are here: Home / Blog / Dog City / Dog City where Florida: vacation on the Gulf Coast

Hey puppy, I’m Ella back from the dead to tell you about my latest escapades. Mom and Dad always said “to work” (hmmm…), so I insisted they take a few days off and go.

Place to change. And who is friendlier to my kind — a dog, a master breed, of course I mean — than our neighbor from South Florida?

The Best Pet-friendly Hotels In Florida, United States Of America

Mom had been on the Gulf Coast all her life, but up until then she had only taken me

Some ridiculously sweet people let us stay in their house for a week and that’s exactly what the vet ordered: relaxation, relaxation, no travel plans – just the opposite of how mom usually vacations!

Florida is my speed, anyway: a lot of room to run, no rules, no squirrels to bother me, no postman to protect the house from – just me and the sand (and OK, a few thousand birds to terror).

We are in the middle of November, which can be cold on some days. The morning was too cold and windy to spend time outside, so we relaxed at home doing my favorite thing: napping.

And sometimes a girl needs a beer. We found a sweet brewery that let me in: Grayton Brewing Co. The people who run it are very nice and bonus: the beer is good too!

How do I know? It’s OK. When my mom said I was too young to try libations – no problem, I’m 52.5 dog years old! – dad gave me a sip of his beer (that’s why he’s my favorite parent, obviously). We loved it so much that we came back the second day to fill our growlers for the road!

Paddleboards (I only lend them to my mom and dad) and we spent the afternoon gliding on the surface of this calm water. I think the water there might be even calmer than my lake in Tennessee.

Floridians are wise enough to leave the country for a week so we can have it all to ourselves. Floridians, you must be a complacent bunch (to that human).

Mom promised to get off social media for a week – big mistake; By the way (shame on you!), follow MY new Instagram, @BustedPuppy?! – and dad plans to read a lot of books. None of those things happened, but I made sure they focused on the important things and that

In fact, Florida beaches are my natural camouflage – who knew? (Well, I would have if I had been taken to this magical place on the Gulf Coast sooner! Harumph.)

Our journey is too fast; Before I knew it, we were in a Jeep and off to Orlando for a Universal vacation.

Leaving your pet at home with a sitter or at a kennel can put a huge damper on your vacation, making you wonder and worry if they’re having fun, so why not make it a dog-friendly adventure? After all, even animals deserve a little vacation. But before you pack your car or book your ticket for a pet-friendly vacation; Here’s how to help you plan your pet-friendly trip to Florida.

As with all family members, safety is paramount during a pet-friendly vacation. Start with the basics by asking your vet if there are any things to consider before traveling with your pet, such as age or health complications. For example, according to PetSafe, pets must be at least eight weeks old and have up-to-date vaccinations for air travel. Meanwhile, older dogs with poor vision may be suitable for both air and car travel, but require safe accommodation where there is no risk of falling down stairs or balconies. Regardless of the travel method you choose, keep your pet’s medical records and, if possible, stop often to rest and get fresh air.

Just be sure to ask about pet weight restrictions, additional fees, and whether there are places on-site or nearby where you can take your pet to stretch and play. Hopping on VRBO or Airbnb is also an option for pet lovers who want to relax and enjoy the backyard for their vacation pets.

Florida’s warm climate, gentle breezes and relaxed atmosphere make it a paradise for travelers with pets. Finding a place to eat is relatively easy, as there are plenty of places to eat with your dog. In Sarasota alone, the Bring Fido website shows nearly 150 pet-friendly restaurants that welcome dogs at outdoor tables, such as Old Salty Dog, O’Leary’s Tiki Bar & Grill and New Pass Grill. In Venice, Florida, TJ Carney’s Pub & Grille and Original Word of Mouth are a few restaurants that don’t mind if you bring your dog for an outdoor meal. If in doubt, call your chosen restaurant ahead of time and be sure to ask if you can bring a bowl of water or a special meal.

Beaches are a big draw for both pets and their human travelers when it comes to pet-friendly vacations. Finding a dog-friendly beach is a fun way to spend an afternoon with your favorite furry friend. Do you need ideas? Here’s a quick overview of places worth seeing:

Destin Dog-friendly Sailing

Florida and its many dog-friendly beaches welcome pets, but not all beaches are fenced and some don’t accept dogs at all. Plus, some dogs need a break from heroically chasing the waves and playing in the hot sand all day. On your next pet-friendly vacation, find plenty of dog parks like Bayfront Park in Sarasota, Naples Dog Park, Canine Cove and more.

Of course, if you want to do something different and your pup needs a tour of his own, try Beach Buddy Tours. Take a dog-friendly tour of Florida’s most beautiful habitats and local wildlife. They also host cruises for your furry friends with a swim stop at Bonita Dog Beach with water toys, dog water bowls and sailor bananas. And after a long vacation, you can also help your dog channel his inner zen at BKS Yoga Studio Doga, where dogs and humans stretch together, breathe deeply and relax together in harmony.

Remember that a pet-friendly vacation should offer opportunities for relaxation and fun with your pet
