Weekend Getaways For Couples With Dogs – There’s something about January that makes me want to sit down at my calendar and plan my entire trip for next year. It’s so cold and dark outside, curling up with your laptop and planning an adventure feels incredibly satisfying.
Even though we’re taking a break from our major international trips during the pandemic, we’re enjoying exploring the Seattle area and its amazing (and dog-friendly!) weekend getaways. After ten years of living in New York and Chicago, it’s exciting to return and rediscover old favorite travel spots, as well as to see all the new innovative glamping spots, boutique hotels, and unique Airbnbs springing up here. And most of all I would like to see how many of them agree to live with dogs. I’m so excited to bring Dave and Liz on vacation.

We’ve blogged in the past about how much we love Getaway tiny houses and we’re currently looking at a new location in the Skagit Valley. Honestly, the Coho Ocean Boardwalk stole my heart with its beachfront fire pits. Although this Oregon Coast abode is a short drive from Seattle, its beautiful modern interior and sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean make the trip worth it. Dogs up to 25 pounds are allowed in some rooms. Details here.
My New Year’s resolution is to check into Dreamy Lodge in St. Edward as soon as possible, which should be easy since it’s only half an hour from the city. This historic seminary has been transformed into a luxurious and luxurious retreat located right on 326 acres of land on the shores of Lake Washington. We spent a great weekend at Lodges on Vashon in January 2020 and blogged about it – and those memories helped me get through the first months of isolation. The 570-square-foot designer apartments feature amenities such as private patios, fireplaces and soaking tubs. I’ve been wanting to get my hands on one of these Insta-famous A-frames for a long time, and I decided to do it this year. Tay River Cabin Co. Baker offers three different stunning A-frame cabins in the heart of the Snoqualmie National Forest, and all three are pet-friendly for an additional fee. A word to the wise: booking can be difficult since each of their amazing Insta posts gets thousands of likes. Pet information is listed below each cabin information.
We spent Easter happily in Semiahmoo in 2019 and I was looking for an opportunity to return to its beautiful scenery and remote beach that Lizzie loves to explore. Just steps from the Canadian border, this cozy hideaway is a great base camp for great hiking and spectacular views of the northern Washington coastline. They are very dog friendly and welcome pups with their bowls, beds and (at least during our visit) souvenirs. Information about the dog is here.

Anacortes is one of my favorite city tours. Head an hour and a half north of Seattle and visit this gorgeous downtown beach town full of charming shops, delicious cafes, and water views. Well, technically it’s not available yet, but we’ve signed up for booking notifications following the launch of stunning camping trailers in Olympic National Park. They offer comfort beyond standard camping, providing a secluded and environmentally friendly way to access nature. I’m obsessed with the gorgeous new Water’s Edge Suites at the historic Orcas Island Inn, which offer private balconies with views of the bay. I can already see myself there with a book. Honestly, this gorgeous beach town on Washington’s gorgeous Pacific coast is everything I look for in a vacation: a great downtown with cute shops and restaurants, plenty of rental options, and a clean, sandy beach. If you haven’t heard of Tentrr yet, you’re missing out. We’ve stayed with them twice (in Vermont and on our trip to Maine, which we wrote about here), and each trip was wonderful. Essentially, they set up luxury safari tents on isolated plots of private land, like this beautiful fruit farm near Mead, Washington. True, Idaho is a little far from Seattle, but we are willing to travel any distance to see this aerial spectacle. Plus, little details like the sauna and antique coffee grinder on site melt my heart. Pets are allowed, although depending on staircase access you may have to judge whether this will be an enjoyable experience for your stay.
