Banff has two off-leash dog parks. One is located in an industrial area on Hawk Avenue. 1.8 miles from downtown Banff on Compound Rd. The other is located at the Sundance Road Recreation Area near the Banff Trail Rider Barn, about 2 kilometers from downtown Banff. Both pitches are vehicular accessible and have parking.

Here Are Toronto’s Top 8 Pet-friendly Neighbourhoods To Live In With Your Pup
The snowy peaks are home to Lake Louise. I shook off my light jacket and looked at Charlie’s thick coat. My partner had never seen a mountain before.
We’re in Banff, Alta., on the final leg of a nine-day westward move as we move from Toronto to Vancouver, partly because of my husband’s work and partly to live somewhere where nature isn’t new. . I hope Charlie is excited about the rocks and glacial lakes of Canada because we stayed on the ground for him and traveled over 4,700 km to his new home.
Flying can be intimidating to those with a basic knowledge of aerodynamics. Charlie is a sick 10-year-old terrier with separation anxiety. And 20 kg (almost 45 pounds) is too much for the cabin. It had to be flown in an airline-approved cabin, i.e. a checked bag, pressurized but not temperature-controlled compartment. (A service dog is allowed in the cabin, but Charlie isn’t much help.)
The flight from Toronto to Vancouver takes about five hours, not including an indefinite layover on the tarmac, and we signed a lease for the July 1 hot tarmac season. Air Canada places thermal restrictions on pets on domestic flights when the temperature exceeds 29.5 degrees Celsius. WestJet doesn’t, its website says, “We love Canada, but unfortunately the heat isn’t an issue.” We moved straight into British Columbia after the most dangerous weather in Canadian history, with temperatures reaching 49.6C in the province.
Pet Friendly Hotels
Both WestJet and Air Canada’s websites state that the airlines “are not responsible for the care and feeding” of pets in transit. I wondered who would be responsible. Charlie is warm but challenging to us, loves Black Forest ham more than I do, and has a restless fur coat that likes to sniff every tree he passes. For an airline, it is cargo.
Fortunately, airlines don’t stock animals like carry-on bags, but all it takes is one incident to upset pet owners.
In 2013, Larry Gray died on an Air Canada flight. In 2017, WestJet put a Cooper labradoodle on the wrong plane. And earlier this year, Air Canada lost his cat, Dewey, during a layover at Toronto’s Pearson Airport; She had been missing for more than three weeks and was found emaciated. Dewy’s owner originally booked a direct flight, but the airline changed it.
