Pader Island National Seashore separates the Gulf of Mexico from the Laguna Madre, one of the few bays in the world. The park protects 70 miles of coastline, dunes, grasslands and seabeds teeming with life. Camp Ridley is a protected nesting ground for sea turtles and is home to 380 species of birds. Pets are welcome almost anywhere in the park and must be on a leash. Leashed pets are allowed in all campgrounds and over 60 miles of beach in the park, including all drive-thru areas. All this to ensure the safety of sea turtles.

This 3.5 mile trail is no ordinary hiking trail as it is located around town. But it’s perfect for a brisk walk, bike ride or roller blading with the dog. Along the way is the Katy Trail Ice House where you can stop for a cold margarita and a bite to eat at the large outdoor dining area. This is my favorite dog friendly restaurant in all of Dallas!
Come Rome is a fun (and inexpensive) way to see and learn more about Dallas. They offer 4 different self-guided tours ranging from 5 to 2 km. Every trip can be easily tracked with their fun app! They tell interesting facts and turn the journey into an interactive game! It can be a great date night or a team competition!

20 Dog-friendly Beaches In The South
While you won’t find any adventure travel in Dallas, the Cedar Hill Nature Preserve is a great way to visit. Located less than 20 minutes from the city, you will find 600 hectares and more than 9 miles of trails. This is a great place to spot butterflies, birds or have a picnic after a walk. This is a non-profit organization and uses donations!
After you’re done strolling the charming streets and window shopping in Gripen town, take your child to the pool for a swim.
Grab your boy, rent a paddle board from Backwoods Paddle Sports and head down the Trinity River. You will be in the heart of Fort Worth with views of the city around you! After being hired, the staff will explain the different options you have and you’ll be on your way.
They also rent kayaks (solo and tandem) and canoes, or you can bring your own to launch on Panther Island!

You and your dog can watch the daily animal runs (11 and 4), window shop, people watch and catch a barbecue.

Coyote Drive-In is open 7 days a week. You can buy tickets at the door starting at 6pm ($8 adults, $4 children). They are currently showing the film on their four screens. After choosing a movie, head to the Coyote Dining Room for all the snacks from the movies. Check out their current shows here!

This was the first stop that changed my view of Texas. After driving miles and miles of flat terrain, you’ll be surprised to find the second largest canyon in the United States. I highly recommend walking the Lighthouse Trail here as you will be amazed by the natural rock formations! Very easy to navigate and completely dog friendly!

A unique and dog friendly way to add West Texas to your bucket list! Located in Alpine, this 1.8 mile hike takes you up a hill to an old school desk…I know…weird…but also different. The trail is near the college and a few years ago a few college students climbed up to the table and now it’s a happy ending to your trip! There is also a bicycle tree near the table.
