Dog Friendly Hotel Chains

Dog Friendly Hotel Chains – Traveling with your pet doesn’t have to be expensive.  It’s always a good idea to do a little research and find out how and where you can save. Everyone loves a deal!  Also, if you can save a little “here” you can spend a little “there.”

As pet parents, we love to take our pets whenever and wherever. Packing up your pet and heading out for adventure, relaxation and recreation, or just some bonding time is a great way to escape the stresses of everyday life.  The good news is that you can do this on a limited budget. That’s right, traveling with your pet doesn’t mean you have to spend a lot of money.

One of the biggest ways to save is to find pet-friendly hotels.  Comparing pet fees when deciding where to book accommodation can save you a lot of money.  Pet fees start at $50/night/pet. Contrary to popular belief, pet fees do not always depend on the type of accommodation.  Generally, individual hotels within a chain set their own pet policies. However, there are brands with more extensive policies – some of which allow pets to roam freely. There are upscale boutique hotels and mid-budget hotels that don’t charge pets.

Not only is the Red Roof Inn pet-friendly, but its rates are budget-friendly.  Also, their locations are conveniently located near major highways – making them a great place to stay overnight while on the road.

This pet chain offers the lowest prices of any national chain.  Motel 6 is an American chain of pet-friendly hotels. Motel 6 loves pet guests, which is why they are always pet-free!

If you’re looking for an upscale boutique hotel for you and your pet, book a stay at Aloft.  In addition to pet-free accommodations at most (but not all) locations, pets will be accommodated through Aloft’s ARF (Animals R Family) program.  The ARF program allows pets to enjoy pet beds, bowls, dog food and toys during your stay.

This hotel group really puts the ‘friendliness’ in pet friendly hotels!  Kimpton Hotels is a chain of luxury boutique hotels that not only accept pets for free, but also accept any type of pet, any size or any breed.  Additionally, Kimpton Hotels rolls out the red carpet for pets. They offer comfortable pet beds, food bowls and special treats at all of their hotels. Additionally, many properties offer pet sitting and dog grooming and pet concierge services. Because we love to travel with our dogs Oscar and Sadie, it’s important to know which major hotel chains allow pets. Years ago, we found a hotel chain that was more dog friendly than others, so they always go to us when booking hotels. Big selling point: Dogs are always free. You are allowed to leave your dogs alone in the hotel room as long as they do not disturb other guests. Sold!

However, since then, I think the big hotel chains have caught on to the fact that Americans want to travel with their pets. Therefore, they had to be very friendly with the animal-loving guests. Of course, many hotels always accept service dogs and do so for free.

Now that I’ve covered the major dog-friendly airlines and pet-friendly airports in the United States, I figured it was time to cover the pet-friendly hotel chains. As I wrote about traveling with your dog in this article, we already know that some brands accept pets. These include Aloft (part of the Marriott family) and Kimpton (part of InterContinental Hotels or IHG).

But what about all the other big chains like Marriott and IHG? Here’s what I found among the top 10 hotel chains:

The Marriott Bonvoy family consists of several different brands. These include the aforementioned Aloft hotels.

Now, pets don’t stay free at Hilton hotels. Whenever we stayed at the Hilton Hotel with Oscar and Sadie, we had to pay a fee for each pet. Rates range from $50 per pet per night to $75 per pet per night.

For many years, my mother-in-law lived in New York City, so we often went to visit her and spend Christmas with her. We could not live with him as he lived in a small apartment. So, we had to stay in a pet-friendly hotel. However, since it was always difficult to find a dog walker on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, the time we could spend with him was limited.

Then we found out about the pet policy at IHG (Intercontinental Hotels Group) hotels, especially the Kimpton hotels in Manhattan. We all lived in them in New York City.

If the Kimpton team can help us find a dog walker, if needed, they let us leave Oscar and Sadie alone in the room after we checked out. As I said before yes, as long as they don’t disturb the other guests.

Pet Friendly Hotels Where Pets Stay Free

Also, since we are Rewards members and have an IHG credit card, we did not pay for the dogs to stay with us. Note: The hotel mentioned in my Instagram story above is no longer part of the Kimpton chain. It’s still called the Ink 48 Hotel and it’s still pet-friendly. However, I don’t know if they have the same rules as Kimpton.
