We’d be remiss if we didn’t immediately recommend a stop (or four) at Café du Monde. Dogs can join their parents on the patio, but my personal recommendation is to get a takeout order. Enjoy coffee and juices just steps from the cafe while watching street performers dance, sing and juggle in front of the iconic Jackson Square. If you prefer a more sophisticated spectacle with your meal, Broussard is a jazzy three-course brunch.

For a simple, classic New Orleans meal, you can’t go wrong with a po’ boy. Quigley loved the small bites at Johnny’s Po-Boys, the oldest restaurant in New Orleans. Dogs are not allowed, so we recommend taking a picnic by the river with you. The nearby Woldenrg Park has plenty of seating, large lawns and excellent views of the river.

New Orleans also has a spooky history, and the city will allow you and your pet to playfully participate in some spooky fun. After dark, the city offers a spooky series of walks, and some groups, like French Quarter Phantoms or Witches Brew, allow dogs to participate.
