Places To Take The Family On Vacation – Ready to plan your next family vacation and find out where to go? For 2023, I’ve combined my favorite family vacation ideas with some suggestions from other travel writers. From coast to coast, we help you choose the best family vacation spots in the United States.
On this list, you’ll find family vacation ideas, some of which you may have heard of before. Other areas are areas that may be new to you. Some are big cities, some are small towns. For each vacation spot on the list, I’ve listed what’s good for families, as well as giving you some insight into how to plan with some recommended places to stay or do things!
Places To Take The Family On Vacation
The price of a family vacation varies depending on many factors. Traveling or flying? Do you plan to go to many attractions with an entrance fee or do you plan to do mostly free things? Where will you stay? Obviously, a five-star resort will cost more than staying in a budget motel.

There are several factors that determine how long family leave should be. Some studies suggest that a vacation should be as long as eight days to reap its full benefits.
But for some families, it may be limited by the number of days off you have from work or school. Hotel and food can also add up quickly, so a longer vacation means spending more money on your trip.
For our family, we usually like to plan our main family vacation for seven to eight days depending on travel time. If we fly most of the first day, we may need an extra day to get a feel for our destination.

To be honest, most of the seven of us were lost at home during our day and we were a little tired. You don’t want to be so busy on vacation that you feel like you need a vacation after vacation!
As often as possible! 🙂 Our family tries to take at least two family vacations a year, plus two weekends. But I say you should try to plan at least one family vacation a year.
I know that responsibilities and finances can affect how often you can take a family vacation. But even if you take the time to simply relax over the weekend, you’ll create memories with your kids and experience something new!

The Best Places To Take Your Family On Vacation This Summer
One of our family’s favorite trips was a trip down the California coast. We all fell in love with Northern California. The magnificent redwoods in Redwood National and State Parks are absolutely breathtaking. There are plenty of family-friendly tours that allow you to get up close and personal with these giants.

Glass Beach in Fort Bragg is a great location that allows for great family photos! Nearby McCarricher State Park invites kids to get out, explore, and enjoy nature. You may even spot whales in time!

Colorado’s Estes Park is a great vacation destination for families looking for a national park trip with small-town magic and a big-city day trip. You can also find many beaches and rocky outcrops throughout the day. Popular spots include freezing at Hanauma Bay, surfer-watching on the North Shore, and long walks at Kaualoa Park and Hidden Island.
Many families will choose to stay at Waikiki Beach in Honolulu, but some may choose Disney’s Aulaani, which is 45 minutes away from Honolulu. You’ll want to catch a luau at the Polynesian Cultural Center or Disney’s Aulani Luau.
