We initially headed to Davis. Hope to visit Turner Falls. After we paid the entrance fee We were very disappointed (dirty, crowded, parking, etc.) and turned around and went back to our cozy hut.
That led us to look for more fun things to do in the Chickasaw National Forest with our dogs…and we were pleasantly surprised. First, make sure you rent a comfy cabin. (We found a dog-friendly cabin on Airbnb in Sulfur.) After relaxing at the cabin, Head to the Bromide Trail for great trails. Then cool off along the Travertine River and cap off the evening with a sunset cruise around Arbuckles Lake.

The Wichita Mountains are home to some unique rock climbing routes. Bison crossings, prairie dogs, and a cute lakeside town just 1.5 hours from Oklahoma City. While I wasn’t able to find a dog-friendly lodging in Medicine Park, we found several reasonable options in nearby Lawton.
Dallas may not be the most dog-friendly destination. But there were some interesting stops!

If you’re looking for a great Texas atmosphere, Fort Worth is the place for you! Spend your first day strolling down warehouse streets in Fort Worth. Shopping at various stores and watch cows being raised every day (Held daily at 11:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.) You can also enjoy delicious barbecue on Riscky’s Barbeque’s dog-friendly patio…you won’t be disappointed.
After spending the day at the Stockyards, spend the next morning paddling on the Trinity River with Backwoods Paddlesports after your adventure. Head to the Fort Worth Water Park for a relaxing picnic with your dog. Cap off your weekend at Coyote Drive-in Cinema.
