Skaleshpur shelters are a place not only for humans but also for dogs. The house itself is dog friendly, so if your furry friend is social, you’ll know they’re in for a treat. Dogs come first on this special holiday. Having a dog (you’re welcome to bring a horse or cow or any other animal) is a must for your visit to Mandala Woods, which is located high in the Western Ghats and covers an area of over 1,000 acres. Here, your dog has access everywhere, can walk freely without a leash and can even climb on the sofa. Even the staff, many of whom have worked at the place for decades, bathe and feed them (everything dog-related is free). Almondwoods can only accommodate three groups of guests at a time, and if a guest has a problem with a dog, they don’t have to deal with it with your dog.

An Instagram addict who is an avid chef, foodie and comic book geek who watches The Simpsons every week. Animal friendly has a new address – Orica Coorg and Lemon Tree Hotels. Last week, my husband Sharat and I took our dogs, Raju and Ishu, to Orika Coorg, an exclusive resort in Coorg, set on 45 acres of coffee plantations in the Western Ghats, and the dogs were delighted by what they saw and experienced. A big green space, lots of space to run and lots of things to smell, countless treats and toys, delicious food and comfort food. Pet Friendly Communiti

A little background information on what we do as new pet parents. A few years ago, when Covid suddenly took over our lives and the first lockdown began, my husband and I joined a community of animal lovers to help feed street dogs. And so we found a very beautiful park without the mother of the lost children in the park. They weren’t even a few weeks old and we took turns feeding them. One of them was a strong and playful dog and a friend of ours named him Raju as it was his favorite name for every dog.

Raju grew mischievous and chubby by the day and quickly became a happy-go-lucky but powerful alpha. Unfortunately, tragedy struck and apparently in the middle of the night he was hit by a rock when he was less than six months old and broke his back. Raju was a paralyzed boy and was in a lot of pain – many doctors asked us to put him down. Finally one of them agreed to the operation and we brought him home, hoping that one day he would be able to walk and run like a dog. However, two years later, when he can stand and walk a little, he is not paralyzed and incontinent, but he runs in a wheelchair bought for him. And Raju traveled to the coast and forest and now he is having a good vacation in the mountains. His younger sister, Ishu, has lived with him through hardships and infirmities and has also been staying with us for the past few months and this is the first time he has left home.

When it comes to animal companionship, Orica Korg speaks. This pet-friendly resort in Coorg currently houses over 95 dogs and cats, including 30 indies. Most entertainment venues discriminate against indies and prefer fun and interesting types. They also have many restrictions. However, the Orica Korg doesn’t have one unless it’s on a cable when it’s outdoors and among pets.

Being a paraplegic dog, Raju also has special needs. Although we took her to boutiques in Ooty and Bangalore and some fun resorts near Bangalore, we were worried if she would be comfortable. But Orica Korg made sure he was comfortable from the start. Pets are the mantra of our guests and they wear their animal friendships on their collars, as you can see on the board at the door, says General Manager Sanjay Pandita who welcomed us. While we were sipping our drinks, Raju and Ishu prepared food and drinks for them to receive. We have already registered them as pets at the time of booking with detailed information.

The rooms came with pet beds, toys and toys and they loved it. Everything is thoughtfully designed with pet safety and comfort in mind. They had bowls with them to carry food and water. When dog food is made to order, they can sit with you at certain tables in the restaurant.

The staff treated the pets with such love that Raju and Ishu felt comfortable there. They walked and ran with us, they rolled on the grass, lay in the sun, chased squirrels and ducks, they looked at the big green forest from the balcony and fell asleep dreaming of other problems.

But Orica Coorg is more than just a luxury-friendly resort. Spread over 45 acres, the aesthetically designed place offers you a view of the Western Ghats rain forest and green coffee and spice plantations. Every part of the building tells a story, be it the art installation in the reception or the smooth wood used for some of the furniture designs. You can go bird watching, nature walks, and plant tours, and even try your hand at coffee brewing.

Birds are everywhere – in gardens, in gardens and as art in rooms and corridors. I went birding with host Ganesh, who has been “ThebirdmanofCoorg” for two decades and is also a storyteller. ask him
