Best Dog Friendly Resorts Washington State – There’s something about January that makes me want to sit down with the calendar and plan an entire travel package for next year. It’s very cold and dark outside, so it’s incredibly satisfying to sit down at your laptop and plan some adventures.

Even though we had our major international trips on hold during the pandemic, we enjoyed getting to know the Seattle area and its wonderful (and dog-friendly!) weekend getaways. After spending a decade in New York City and Chicago, it was fun to go back and rediscover your favorite routes as well as the innovative new glamping sites, boutique hotels, and unique Airbnbs you’ve seen here. Above all, I would like to see how many people take advantage of dog-friendly options during their stay. I’ll be much happier if we can take Dave and Lizzie with us on our vacation.

Pets In The San Juan Islands

I’m looking forward to planning a trip to this fantastic lodge and venue near picturesque Friday Bay, which has several “dog friendly” cabins. How incredible is this picture? We also love hiking and the breathtaking views of San Juan Island. Details about the dog can be found here under each cabin description.

Bring your best friend to enjoy the magic of wine country at one of our favorite resorts in the area. We have been spending weekends in Sagecliff since 2015 and have never been disappointed. The Captain Whidbey Hotel is at the top of my sure-fire “bucket list” for 2022. With recent features in publications like Vogue, this beautifully restored historic inn has been popping up all over my Instagram feed and I can’t wait to go on that trip . . Click through the reservation system to see which rooms (like the Filson Cabin!) are marked as pet-friendly.

Walla Walla is one of the best wine regions in the country with over 120 wineries, so I honestly can’t think of a better place to spend a few days. I’ve had this modern downtown hotel bookmarked for a while now because it looks like the perfect base camp for a weekend in the snow or a weekend of drinking wine. Or both! A limited number of pet-friendly rooms are available upon request. Details can be found here.

We have blogged in the past about how much we love Getaway Cottages and are excited about the new Skagit Valley location. It’s a great way to escape to nature and stay warm and dry. And how adorable is this signature bedside window? Dogs are allowed for a fee – details here.

Honestly, Coho Oceanfront stole my heart with its beachfront fire pits. Although this Oregon Coast lodge is just a short drive from Seattle, it’s worth the drive for its beautiful modern interiors and stunning views of the Pacific Ocean. Dogs under 25 pounds are welcome in select rooms – see more details here.

My New Year’s resolution is to stay at a gorgeous lodge in St. Louis. Book the Hotel Edward as soon as possible – which should be easy since it’s only half an hour’s drive outside of the city. This historic seminary has been converted into a luxurious and elegant residence and is located on a 326-acre trail directly on Lake Washington. After a day of adventure, relax with a trip to the spa or enjoy Pacific Northwest cuisine at Cedar + Elm. Details about the dog here.

We had a perfect weekend at The Lodges on Vashon in January 2020 – and blogged about it here – and the memories accompanied me through the first few months of lockdown. These 50-square-foot, design-focused units offer amenities like private patios, fireplaces, and soaking tubs. It’s also the perfect base for exploring Vashon Island’s beautiful beaches and cliffs. Nine of the 16 lodges are dog friendly, simply select ‘Pet Fee’ in the booking portal – further details can be found here.

I’ve dreamed of getting into one of these iconic Instagram frames for a very long time and I’m determined to do it this year. Tye River Cabin Co. offers three stunning A-frame cabins in the heart of the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest and all three accept pets for a fee. But a note to the wise guys: it can be difficult to get a booking since each of her adorable Instagram posts receives thousands of likes. Please see the details of each cabin for pet information.

We enjoyed a lovely Easter holiday in Semiahmoo in 2019 and I’m looking for an opportunity to once again explore the beautiful countryside and secluded beach that Lizzie loved so much. Located just a stone’s throw from the Canadian border, this resort is an ideal base for hiking and enjoying Northern Washington’s stunning coastal scenery. It’s very dog-friendly and puppies are welcomed with their own bowls, a bed and some souvenirs (at least during our visit). Details about the dog here.

Step back in time and stay in one of these vintage travel trailers in Dayton, Oregon. The best part? Located in Willamette Wine Country. Trailers are equipped with spilled coffee, luxury linens, and luxurious bathrooms. Puppies are allowed at the Shasta Show, see more details here.

Anacortes is one of my favorite trips out of the city. Drive an hour and a half north of Seattle to reach this quaint downtown beach town with charming shops, delicious cafes, and water views. (Watermark Book Co. is one of my favorite bookstores in Washington!) And we love the very well-known hotel The Majestic for its cozy guest rooms and stunning rooftop bar. You can find their detailed puppy guidelines here.

I love a unique event and Winthrop’s Rolling Huts certainly fulfills that goal. Seattle-based Olson Kundig Architects designed these tiny homes as a modern alternative to camping. You can go for a walk or just relax and enjoy the beautiful mountain views. Pet policies apply in the Fees & Policies section of the Hotels.com listing.

This luxury resort on Hood Canal has prided itself on hosting pups since 1913, and with an extensive list of Fido-friendly amenities, we can believe it. Create memories by renting a kayak, hiking the trails, or just enjoying the view. Read the details about the dog here.

I’m obsessed with the stunning new Water’s Edge Rooms at the historic Orcas Island Inn, which feature private balconies overlooking the bay. I can already see myself walking around there with a book. I think one thing that might draw me back is the great menu at the on-site New Leaf Café. Well-behaved dogs are welcome in select rooms, suites and studios – see details here.

If you follow us on Instagram, you know we make a quick trip to Seabrook every chance we get. Many rentals welcome puppies.

With stunning views of Lake Washington, The Woodmark offers a delightful retreat just a short drive outside of downtown Seattle. More of her Fido miniatures here.

If you haven’t heard of Tentrr, you’re missing out. We visited them twice (in Vermont and on a trip to Maine that we blogged about here) and each trip was wonderful. Essentially, they set up luxury safari tents on exceptional private properties, like this beautiful fruit farm near Mead, Washington. You can also have one of their fruit cakes delivered to your location for a small additional cost, or some farm fresh eggs for a delicious al fresco meal. You can find out more about Tentrr’s puppy policy here.

Granted, Idaho is a long way from Seattle, but we would travel a long way to stay in this breezy landscape. Plus, the little details like the on-site sauna and the antique coffee grinder really melted my heart. Pets are allowed, but judging by the stair entrance, you may need to consider whether or not this will be a pleasant vacation for you.
