Finally, the family arrives at Eddie and Catherine’s house outside of Coolidge, Kansas (actually filmed outside of Pueblo, Colorado, as the mountains show in the distance) for a low-key night that leads Clark and Ellen to agree to take a anger Aunt Edna (Imogene Coca) to Phoenix… who won’t let Eddie lend him the $52,000 he’s asking for.

Given the Western theme of the day and Clark’s comfort with corniness, he may have deliberately chosen a checked shirt in hopes of showing some cowboy style, in this case wearing a navy-and-green outfit tartan plaid cotton shirt with A stand-up collar (tucked and untucked), button front (with top buttons set back), breast pocket, and button placket (that and he’s also dressed and undressed and wrapped around the elbows).
Like his regular shirts, Clark’s tan cotton front pants are also Lacoste, and are highlighted by the green leaf print on the button-down coin pocket under the right side of the belt line. The straight leg pants also have side pockets, back pockets, and belt loops, which are fastened with a medium brown leather belt that fastens with a gold square buckle.

Clark was wearing another Lacoste short-sleeve piqué polo shirt, this one red but the same burgundy two-button shirt he wore at the start of the trip. He again wears black indigo saison jeans and a black leather belt, and shows off a third pair of Converse Pro leather sneakers that are gray with a blue star and stripes on the sides.
For an extra layer, Clark wore a polyester bodysuit, the iconic outerwear that dominated the ’80s. Inspired by classic racing jackets, the zip-up jackets are characterized by belt loops around the short stand-up collar and epaulette-like straps on the raised shoulders, all with quick fasteners. The cuffs are woven to match the rest of the jacket, as is the seam of the flapped hand pockets and the attached breast pocket. A small white rectangle with “members only” printed in black is sewn under the chest pocket rib, signaling to the rest of the world that the wearer has joined the exclusive “members” group that costs $55 polyester coat.
