Best Dog Friendly Cornwall Beaches – Upton Towans (sometimes called Mexican Towans) has a reputation for its stunning beaches. With a large stretch of sand (2 ¼ miles to be exact), rock pools for swimming at low tide, and incredible waves and towns behind you, this place is sure to be a popular spot.
Because dogs are accepted year-round, you’ll probably see more than two of your four-legged friends in the winter.

When visiting, make sure you park at Gwithian Towans car park and walk west to the center of the beach as there are dog restrictions on access at Godrevy and Phillac ends.
Top 10 Dog Friendly Beaches In North Cornwall
Another beautiful place on the North Coast worth visiting! Harlyn, just west of Padstow, has a beautiful sandy beach for your furry friends to run around on.
This is a perfect beach with cliffs on both sides, perfect for bringing the whole family, letting the dogs run and even surfing!
Nanjizal Smaller than the two beaches listed above, but just as, if not more, impressive, Nanjizal is a great beach to explore with your canine friend. As there is no designated car park, bring your walking boots and park at Lands End and follow the coast path south to find Nanjizal.
This is definitely a hike that requires proper planning as it is a 3 mile hike to get there. With rock pools, waterfalls, caves and sandy areas at low tide, there are plenty of fun things for your dog to explore!

Pedn Vounder is probably one of the most famous beaches and was recently voted one of the best beaches in the world, its beauty has to be seen to be believed.
This is one of the hardest places to get to and you need to make sure that both you and your dog are prepared for the 20 minute climb down and back. But we have to say it’s worth it!
With stunning crystal clear waters and wide stretches of sand at low tide, it’s the perfect place for people and dogs to enjoy the Mediterranean flair.
Caffrac Beach is located in the picturesque Cornish village of the Lizard Peninsula. The area is known for being a great place to swim and the waters here are calm and shallow, perfect for your pup to play. Low tide beach is mostly sand and shingle and is a more sheltered beach due to its location on the eastern side of the Lizard Peninsula. This also means it is usually quieter than other local beaches in the middle of summer! But remember, during the summer (June, July and August) your dog must be on a leash.

Polgwidden Cove, at the end of our Trebah Gardens, is a small picturesque beach on the north side of the River Helford.
Known for its crystal clear waters and having played an important role in World War II, your dog will love sniffing this pebble beach.
It is worth noting that Polgwidden is only accessible through the gardens and dogs must be kept on a lead when walking through the gardens and on the beach.
The Boathouse Cafe offers water fountains and even ice cream for dogs, your dog will thank you for bringing them here!

Many of the larger beaches have some seasonal restrictions, but with its hidden coves, quiet sandy beaches and secret coastlines, Cornwall still has a variety of dog-friendly beaches that allow dogs all year round.
Seasonal bans in Cornwall generally apply between 10am and 4pm. rice. 6 p.m. July 1 – August 31 at designated beaches, however, some beaches have longer curfews that apply from 10 a.m. at 3 p.m. rice. 6:00 p.m. From May 15 to September 30. But whether you want a walk on a windy winter day or a sunny summer day, there are still plenty of places to take your dog for a great day at the beach despite the seasonal bans.

There are many beaches around St Ives Bay, perfect for a day out with your four-legged friend. Stretching from Gwithian Towans south to the Black Cliffs along the Hayle Riviera, this stunning stretch of beach welcomes dogs for walks along three miles of light golden sand.
Or, if you’re looking for pristine beaches, try spending a day with your pup at Peter’s Point, Upton Towans and Mexico Towans. Connected by a coastal path that winds through the windswept dunes, you can expect plenty of space and wonderfully stunning surroundings as you admire the famous Godrevi Lighthouse.
Across the river, you’ll find Porthkidney Beach, nestled between the Hayle Estuary and Hawke’s Point, just a stone’s throw from Carbis Bay. There is a short walk or drive to the coast. With its vast, north-facing sandy beach, it’s easy to see how artist John Miller found his muse in such a soulful seascape.
As well as the ‘secret’ Bamaruth Beach between St Ives Harbor and Portsgweden Beach (which is only revealed at low tide), holidaymakers can continue to head west towards Cornwall to find more dog-friendly beaches.

As well as wild moors and rugged cliffs, Portheras Cove is a lovely secluded spot between Morvah and Pendeen, while Cornwall Priest’s Cove in Cape Cornwall is a picturesque spot at the end of the world, perfect for a picnic or barbecue amid stunning sunset views . .
Equally surprisingly, Gwenfell Beach, located near Land’s End, is not only a surfer’s paradise, but also a dog owner’s dream. Although not the most accessible beach, its cliffside neighbor Sennen Cove is worth a visit as it offers the kind of quiet, rugged charm usually reserved for exclusive island getaways.
Along the western edge of the Atlantic Ocean at Lands End you’ll find a number of stunning exotic coves, including the crystal clear waters of Nanjizel and the ultra-romantic Pedn Vounder at Porthcurno, right next to the legendary Minack Theater Minack Theatre. But it’s best to ask locals and lifeguards for advice on the best routes to this tidal beach.
Continuing west towards Penzance, you’ll find Roskilly Beach, a picturesque stretch of cliffs below the rocky road between Mousehole and the Newlyn Outcrop. Newlyn is home to the dog-friendly pebbly shores of Wherrytown Beach, the Newlyn Art Gallery.

The gentle curve of Mounts Bay stretches from Newlyn to Marazion, home to the iconic St Michael’s Mount and Penzance Promenade and the shallow sands of Long Rock Beach.
Head further east to Cornwall’s south coast and you’ll find a world of wave-lashed coves, exposed headlands and winding lanes. Beyond Marazahn, you’ll discover the beauty of Prussian Bay, where the rugged landscape offers everything from secluded shores to fields of wildflowers.
Cornwall’s west coast continues east to Porthleven, where Loe Bar Beach is home to Cornwall’s largest natural freshwater lake. Dogs are allowed to roam freely, but should stay away from the surface of the water as it is not safe for swimming.
The county’s most southerly, super-beautiful spot is the Lizard Peninsula, home to a number of dog-friendly attractions, including the majestic Mullion Bay, Bolpool Bay and Pentreath.

Even the Eden Project recently opened its doors to dogs, proving that Cornish gardens aren’t just for big thumbs and green families. With its extensive woodlands and parkways bordering the River Fal, Trelissick Garden near Truro is one of the best garden days out for dogs. However, closer to home we like to visit Trengwainton near Penzance, a National Trust property full of picnic meadows, a garden with a stream and paths winding through exotic plants.
Also near Penzance is the Tremenheere Sculpture Garden, which has a wonderful mix of open space, woodland, subtropical plantings and art installations inspired by nature. Explore under the towering canopies, climb the grassy hill for stunning views of Mounts Bay and enjoy homemade cakes and Cornish produce at the Lime Tree Café.
There is nothing better than an exciting walk in the forest or on the coast, followed by a break to fill up in a bar or cafe with your dog. If you fancy a lot of exercise, our favorite coastal path is the six mile section from St Ives to Zeno. Once you’ve arrived at the 13th-century Tinner’s Arms, hidden behind the wild blue seascape that inspired the legend of the Mermaid Zenor, you can take a break by the campfire or walk outside overlooking the wild and lush wilderness .
