Dogs are only allowed on the pre- and after-hours ski access mountain at Spain Highlands, Buttermilk and Snowmass. When planning your winter trip to Lake Tahoe, you want to visit from late November to early April when the snow is sure to fall. Trails open in December and run until late March, sometimes April, depending on the amount of snow during the year. January and February are the most popular months for visitors to visit Tahoe. I recommend going near the beginning or end of the season to beat the crowds, or extend your long weekend to a week to take some of the snowy sports fields to yourself.
Traveling with a dog requires a bit more packing, and winter travel is no different. In fact, I think it takes a little longer to keep your dog safe, but it’s totally worth it. Some of the gear you need for your winter vacation is also worth buying and trying out before your adventure ie snow boots I waited until the last minute for this item and got lucky but this is definitely a must have. There is something you want to get for your safety. paws dog and made sure they can spend as much time in the snow as you do.
While staying in South Lake Tahoe, there are several options for downtown South Lake hotels and rental homes in surrounding areas that back up to the mountain. For this winter trip, they hosted us at the Station House Inn. The hotel is located just a few blocks from Lake Tahoe Blvd. In the center of South Lake.
