Palm Bay Beach will be a dog friendly beach for Margate all year round if you wish to combine the two visits. When we first arrived in Palm Bay, it wasn’t immediately clear how you would go from walking to the beach, but if you find a path between the rocks, the beach is yours. There is a lot of sand to sniff on the beach, or scale up and down if you like the gray dog ​​we saw.

Free street parking is available and there is a dog-friendly jet ski cafe by the beach.

About ten minutes down the coast between Margate and Broadstairs you will find Kingsgate Bay, famous for its white chalk cliffs, sea caves and the much-photographed Kingsgate Bay Sea Arch. The tide was still high when we visited so we couldn’t go through the arch, but it was still a beautiful beach to visit.

Unfortunately there is no car park at Kingsgate Bay and the entrance to the beach is hit and miss. The only parking option is directly at the Captain Digby Pub (dogs are only allowed in the outside dining area). If you don’t eat right away, you’ll gain 20 pounds.

You can walk to the popular Joss Bay Surf Beach with good parking and then walk to Kingsgate Bay approx. 15 minutes. Please note that dogs are allowed on Joss Bay Beach from 1 May to 30 September before 10am. 10.00 and after 18.00.

Another dog-friendly option to stop along the way is the Botany Bay Hotel, a 10-minute walk from Kingsgate Beach. Dogs are welcome in the bar area, and there are also dog-friendly hotel rooms if you plan to stay overnight.

At least the closest beach to Broadstairs on the list is Dampton Gap – in fact you can walk from Dampton Gap to Broadstairs in 15 minutes if you want. Dumpton Gap was a fantastic afternoon favorite for us. Make sure to come at low tide and you can walk along the beach with nothing but sand, sea and steep white cliffs as a backdrop, which is truly amazing.

There is plenty of street parking at the entrance to the beach, parking is easy. Although not open when we visited, Sam’s Café, which faces the sand at the beach entrance, has a good reputation for welcoming people and puppies.
