But there are many important things to consider when planning a vacation with your dog. Which hotels allow dogs? Are there dog-friendly restaurants and bars nearby? Are there activities in the area that you and your dog can enjoy together?

Fortunately, New England is a dog-friendly place. From hiking in the mountains to swimming at the beach, there are plenty of adventures for you and your dog. After years of exploring New England with my dog, I’ve come up with my favorite dog-friendly vacation spots. With plenty of options in hotels, restaurants, and dog-friendly programs, these dog-friendly travel ideas are sure to make your pup grow two paws. Dog-friendly Accommodations In Maine
Burlington, Vermont is New England’s dog-friendly destination. With incredible outdoor adventures and a hip, laid-back downtown, Burlington is as much a playground for dogs as it is for their companions. There are tons of fun things to do with your pup. Stroll the Burlington Greenway along the shores of Lake Champlain, then stop for a local beer at one of the city’s dog-friendly breweries. Burlington brewpubs like Foam Brewers and Zero Gravity Craft Brewery have pup-friendly patios, while places like Switchback Brewing Co allow dogs indoors. Church Street Marketplace, one of New England’s most popular pedestrian (and puppy-friendly) malls, offers plenty of dog-friendly restaurants and shopping. Made Inn Vermont is a cozy bed and breakfast within walking distance of downtown, offering a comfortable home for you and your pet-loving dog.
When the dog days of summer roll around, there’s no better place to be with your pooch than Cape Cod! With miles of pristine beaches, irresistible charm, and countless outdoor activities, Cape Cod is the perfect summer destination for people and dogs alike. You will especially enjoy visiting the Cape Cod National Seashore. These sunny sandy beaches and trails allow dogs to run even in high season. Afterwards, quench your thirst at Provincetown Brewing Company. They’re so dog-friendly (and socially conscious), there’s a dog kennel in the beer garden that says “I bite racists.” There are also many pet-friendly accommodations on the Cape. Pamper your pooch at the luxurious Chatham Bars Inn or try “shaking” your pooch at Nickerson State Park Campground.

If you’re looking for a relaxing beach vacation with your dog, visit Cape Elizabeth, Maine. Just five miles south of Portland, it’s the perfect place to get away from it all without going too far off the beaten path. Home to the iconic Portland Lighthouse, the south end of Fort Williams State Park has a large grassy area where dogs can run and play. Of course, you can’t visit Maine without trying some local lobster, and Bite into Maine has an outdoor food truck located in a park with pet-friendly picnic tables. Higgins Beach is a favorite place for pups to frolic in the sand and splash in the water. After a long day in the sun, relax at the Inn by the Sea, a luxury beach resort offering pampering for pets and their owners.
Pet-friendly Vacation Rentals In The Florida Panhandle
You and your dog will love exploring Nantucket together. This tiny island off the coast of Cape Cod has virtually no lighthouses and plenty of New England charm. Just after the ferry ride, where you’ll see plenty of other traveling pets, it’s clear that Nantucket is a place that welcomes canine visitors. Choose from several dog-friendly activities on the Sconset Bluff Walk to explore historic lighthouses. There are plenty of dog-friendly patios around town, including breakfast spot Black-Eyed Susan’s and eclectic American bistro Queequeg’s. Sit back and stay at the peaceful Brass Lantern Inn, which welcomes four-legged friends in select rooms for a nominal fee.
Located in Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom, this extremely dog-friendly town is a must-see. Known as the Ski Capital of the East, every winter Stowe draws visitors from near and far to its world-class resort. But with plenty of outdoor activities in every season, Stowe is the perfect place to stay with your dog.
For the more adventurous, Smuggler’s Notch State Park offers miles of trails through a stunning section of the Green Mountains. For something a little more modest (but just as fun), you and your dog will love a walk on the Stowe Recreational Trail. This 11-mile paved trail is dotted with dog-friendly restaurants and breweries. There is plenty of room for dogs to suit all budgets. Luxury resorts such as the Trapp Family Lodge, Topnotch Resort, and the Lodge at Spruce Peak provide delightful comfort. But if you’re looking for something more affordable, consider staying with your dog at the Field Guide Lodge or The Stowehof.

There are dog-friendly beaches along the Atlantic Ocean. Let me spill the tea and tell you that Rehoboth Beach on the Delaware Bay is one of the best vacation spots on the East Coast for dogs.
Northeast: 5 Dog-friendly Trails To Explore This Winter — Triumph Pet Food
If you’re in southern New Jersey, Rehoboth Beach is an easy vacation spot because the Cape May Lewes Ferry takes you directly to this charming beach town and dogs go free!
If you arrive before May 1st, dogs are allowed on the beaches on a leash. There are restrictions during the summer months, but dogs can enjoy Dewey Beach before 9:30 a.m. and after 5:30 p.m.
With several nearby state parks, there’s no shortage of outdoor activities for you and your dog, including exploring the lakes, forests, and wetlands of Gordon’s Pond State Park. I also recommend walking the Junction and Breakwater Trail, which was once a railroad.
If you want a dog-friendly restaurant, try The Big Chill Surf Cantina. They have an outdoor patio where you and your adventurer can enjoy delicious American food from the Changing Mains food truck while listening to live music.
North East Lincolnshire Pet-friendly Vacation Rentals
Dog friendly activity: 4-hour pontoon boat rental at Dewey Beach (up to 3 dogs aboard for a $35 fee).
Check out Bowman’s Beach, Lighthouse Park Beach or Tarpon Bay Road Beach and relax in the sand. These are dog-friendly beaches with no time or date restrictions.
Take your dog on a Wildlife Drive at J.N. largest undeveloped mangrove forest. Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge, or visit the dog-friendly Over Easy Cafe for delicious cinnamon buns.
If your pup likes to shop, take him to the shops, bars and restaurants of Duval Street. If you like to explore nature, visit Key West Dog Beach.
