Family Friendly Ski Resorts In New Mexico – My passion for skiing began when I was six years old at Santa Fe Ski Resort, back in the days of rubber boots and wooden skis! I didn’t need help skiing in the white world, but these days ski resorts are creating a magic carpet for their little skiers and their families. Read on to get all the information on the best places in New Mexico for families.

Family Friendly Ski Resorts In New Mexico
Taos has a big say in all things when it comes to skiing in New Mexico, and that includes its facilities and programs for beginners, children and teenagers. This is the first ski resort to be built with a dedicated child care staff, and the children’s program continues to improve.

Its educational center in Rio Hondo offers care for children ages 2 months to 3 years, including lunch and breakfast and outdoor snow play. Ski and snowboard lessons begin at age three, with programs designed for youth up to age 13. Their shredder program runs five Saturdays or Sundays in a row and is sure to push your skier or snowboarder. Children also have their own ski area with mini-lift and luggage list. Registration for classes will begin at 8:00 am. Snow collection time is 15:15; Meeting time 3:30 PM. The training center is located on Firehouse Road, on the west side of Strawberry Hill, a short distance from the centre. Although Taos is known for its high level and skill, due to its large size, there are also plenty of beginner trails that are suitable for young skiers. The main area of the hotel is divided into two smaller areas located below the hotel, each with its own lounge chairs and fences for the more intrepid skiers and snowmen. For those who know their pizza well, there are several suitable toppings from above, including Bambi, Whitefeather, Powderhorn and Porcupine. Growing up, my brothers, friends and I spent many days on these mountains and never tired of the joy of going down, the amazing views and the mix of easy sections and the occasional challenging section.
For local youth, TSV offers the opportunity to go deep and safe in skiing or snowboarding. The resort program offers riders trained to ride safely in all types of terrain and conditions through multiple, multi-week programs. Includes backcountry and snow safety training.
Lodging Near Ruidoso
Apart from surfing, there are many other activities that keep the youth entertained. A few winters ago, TSV opened one of the few outdoor racetracks in the state. The game is played, the ride is held from 11:00 to 16:00. or 16:00. Free time till 8 pm. Slide menu is available.

Most hotels are within walking distance of the base and dining is just a few minutes away. So, mom and dad can park the car and don’t have to deal with drivers and parking. Prices are also cheaper in American ski country. Kids of all ages enjoy a free face-to-face fireworks display and fireworks every Saturday night. Lodging In Red River New Mexico
Kids will love another area at the top of the ski resort called the Moon Star Mining Camp. Explore trails along the Cow Petty Lane, Porcupine’s Trail and Golden Treasure trails, as well as an easy drive through the Aspen Forest. There are also some installations such as mining houses and other old western items.
Lift tickets for children under 5 are free, but must be purchased at the Box Office or Guest Services. Children must be present and purchase the same adult pass.
Buckaroo Nursery is located in the main building on the top floor. It is open from 8:30 to 16:30 and children aged 3-4 are welcome. No reservations are required, but attendance is limited: call 575-754-2223 for information. The Youth Ski and Snowboard Center (located next to the main hall) offers lessons – group or private – for children ages 5-12. The package includes two two-hour lessons, a catalog and a pass. There is no half-day program. The program sells out at peak times, so be sure to make a reservation in advance.
The ski area offers tubing and a plane ride every day at 4:30pm and 5:30pm on the slope in front of the main building. and 6:30 a.m. when advance shows are sold out. Participants must be 42 inches tall. A limited number of tickets go on sale each day at 7:30am. January 8 – February. 13, will not be served on Monday and Tuesday.
Ski New Mexico At Sipapu Ski And Summer Resort
Red River is one of the centers of New Mexico’s ice culture, along with Chama and Rodoso. Companies offer tours from 2 hours per day for solo or two riders, manuals, and clothing and helmet lists. Options include Bobcat Pass Wilderness Adventures. At the top of scenic Bobcat Pass on Route 38, children ages 3 to 5 ride free. The Red River Sled Shed is the city’s oldest operating facility and offers 2.5- and 3.5-hour tours. Red River Off Road offers guided snowshoe tours through snow-covered forests, past gold mines and quarries, and even some skiing.
Angel Fire has earned a reputation as one of the best family resorts in New Mexico. In fact, in 2023 it was awarded the “Best Family Resort” certificate by On the Snow magazine. The hotel’s childcare program runs from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Every day for children from six weeks to 11 years. The program includes lunch, breakfast and – for those who can – at least one hour of skiing in another safe area with a floating carpet for children. Older children are given instructions there or elsewhere on the mountain in difficult terrain. A children’s ski and snowboard area is located directly above the Chili Express Cafe. Reservations are required on your vacation.
With most beginner and intermediate levels, most angel fire can be skied or moved by beginners. There is only one trail, Headin’ Home, that descends from the summit, which is easy for the younger group to navigate.
One of Angel Fire’s best features, and a favorite among skiers and snowboarders, is the terrain park. The modern Liberation Park is located at the top of the hill and includes vertical and jump lines, bars and boxes, as well as a small lift, set 3. It attracts elite athletes from all over the region and hosts several important annual tournaments. does Night Rider Park is located at the bottom of the mountain and therefore allows riders during evening skiing (see below). Sweet Street is a track with cars and turns, and Tank 9 is located below Hayden House for starters.
Red River Ski & Summer Area
And an activity that seems to be most popular among young people who still have energy after a day on the mountain is night skiing in Angel Fire. This is the only night skiing in the state, which covers about 50 acres and includes a terrain park. It is open on Friday and Saturday evenings from 16:00 to 20:00, sometimes on Sundays and on all holiday evenings.

Apart from surfing, AFR is also an excellent diving center open daily from 9am to 4pm. On the base mount. There is a special lift that takes you up the slope, and two safe ways to get down safely! The fee is $35 per hour block. To participate, you must be at least 43 inches tall.
Skiing is prohibited at the ski area, but is permitted at Angel Fire Country Club, a short drive from the bottom.
