There are nine off-leash dog beaches along the coasts of Moreton Bay, Brisbane City and the Redlands Coast. Additionally, there are four other off-the-beaten-path beaches on nearby islands that are worth the extra effort to reach.
There are five dog-friendly beaches in the Moreton Bay area, north-east of Brisbane. Travel over the bridge to Brabby Island and its beautiful beaches, or choose one of the four beaches on the shores of Moreton Bay.
Perhaps the best dog beach near Brisbane is South Woorim Beach, or Brabee Island Dog Beach. This endless stretch of beautiful golden sand stretches for over 4 km between Vuri Beach and Red Beach. We visited Beechmere South, which is listed on Google Maps as “Beechmere Dog Beach”. The off-leash training area starts at the end of Biggs Avenue and continues to the mouth of the Caboolture River, although dogs are not allowed in the mangrove area. Adjacent to the car park is a convenient grass park, which is convenient for visiting at low tide.
As you head north, dogs are still allowed on the beach but must remain on a leash until you reach the off-leash training area at North Beechmere. It is located between the end of Louise Drive and the north end of Bayside Drive.
Heading south, Deception Bay Beach is the next unspoiled beach in the Moreton Bay Regional Council area. Like North and South Beechmere, this dog beach is also a tidal mud flat, best visited at low tide.
The off-leash dog beach is between Wallin Avenue and Joseph Crescent, or just search for “Deception Bay Dog Beach” on Google Maps. During my visit, the promenade was tested off-leash, but only before 8am and after 4pm.

North of Brisbane airport is the beachside area of ​​Naji Beach, where Kedron Brook is a free swimming spot. The off-leash area is near the fenced Tuckeroo dog park – search for “Nudgee Beach Dog Park” on Google Maps.
Kedron Brook is very popular with local dog owners. There was even a combo coffee machine in the parking lot on Sunday afternoon when we visited. Again, the beach is mostly muddy – don’t wear new shoes! The eastern cut-off area extends to the mouth of the harbor and is tidal, so it is best to visit at low tide.

The two off-leash dog beaches on the Redlands Coast Mainland are located in the suburbs of Cleveland. My favorite option is the dog beach at Raby Bay Coastal Park with its sandy beaches.
To find a stretch of beach near the park where dogs can paddle off leash, Google “Raby Bay Dog Beach” or follow the signs. The dog beach isn’t that big, so it can get crowded on busy days, but it’s still a good size.
Another place to swim with your dog in Cleveland is GJ Walter Park. This large fenced dog park is on the other side of Cleveland Point. The easiest access is on the north side, where there is parking at the end of East Shore Street, rather than the south side near the ferry terminal.
While GJ Walter Park may have beach access, it’s not great in terms of dog beaches. One side of the park is fenced off with mangroves, with access to the beach between the mangroves.
