Dog-friendly Vacations In The South – When traveling, make sure you want to experience a new place with your metal friend. Dog parents are often attracted to the idea of traveling with their beloved pet, and going on vacation for a dog is easier than most people think.
I am an independent travel photographer and programmer and since taking my rescue dog Quigley almost six years ago, we have traveled around the world together, including 34 states and 6 countries! Vacations for our dogs range from camping in the desert to enjoying cocktails in Waldorf Astoria and everything in between.

Traveling with Quigley is my greatest pleasure and I hope these tips help you have the same enjoyable experience with your pet. From the Northeast to the West, wherever you want to go in America, there are plenty of dog vacations where you can enjoy your four-legged friends.
Dog Friendly Ranch
The northeast is a contradictory region. From the rugged countryside of Maine to the vibrant art scene of New York City, different destinations have long attracted travelers of all styles.
Boston is a destination that really has it all. Quigley and I have lived in the city for many years and together we explored everywhere from the city center to the vast parks and attractive colonies with ease. The area is beautiful in all seasons, but summer and autumn are the lightest times for dog lovers because Bostonians know how to enjoy the sun.
You patriots? Many of the country’s landmarks are located along the Freedom Trail, a brick trail that takes visitors through landmarks that tell the story of the American Revolution. The trail is on the Boston Common, which includes a dog park off the road for society. Nearby, walkers can visit additional historical sites such as Acorn Street in Acorn Hill, America’s most photographed street, or the public park, home to the Make Way for Ducklings statue. Mallard leads his duck family.
Boston is known for its outdoor festivals, both cultural and thematic, such as the annual Dog Festival, a dog celebration!
Find Your Pet-friendly Vacation Rental With A Fenced Yard
Need to get out of town in a hurry? Dress your puppy in his adorable life jacket and take one of the many ferries to Provincetown, a dog-loving city. There was a dog miles away where Quigley made his first swim in the ocean.
P-Town has a dog park with an art gallery. Explore unique dining areas and retail outlets in your entertainment venue with over 20 restaurants and countless shops that will welcome your pet happily.
If you are looking for fishing, tourists will find many options nearby. Nashoba Valley Winery is one of several orchards that allow dogs to participate in apple picking. Those who feel like wandering in the colorful forest for a few hours (in comparison) can visit one of the many nature reserves nearby, such as the Blue Mountains.
New York City has it all – landmarks, fine dining, theme parks, shopping and art to name a few. Those who love to walk around the city and visit places will be happy to hear that the streets of New York City are friendly.
Travelnuity: Dog-friendly Travel
Take a camera and go to the top of the city. Ancient places like Thesda Terrace, Grand Central Station, The New York Public Library and DUMBO (Brooklyn Pet-friendly District) are just dog places for you and your dog to show and explore. If your dog wants to have some free time, New York offers several dog parks.
A trip to New York City would not be complete without a visit to the store. Fortunately, your dog can join you on the most amazing shopping! Among them are Bloomingdale’s, Saks Fifth Avenue, Rgdorf’s and Barneys, which are known to allow dogs to behave well, although you should call ahead to confirm. If your dog is small and you are ready to take it, you can visit Macy’s in Herald Square and take the original elevator together. Most stores welcome dogs, and some Nordstrom locations even have their own dog cookies for big meat buyers.
NYC is a treat for dieters, including dogs! However, the city is very strict about allowing dogs to eat and drink, except for Boris and Horton’s – the city’s first health department has approved a dog cafe! But do not be afraid; There are plenty of outdoor options throughout the city for dining, and many bathrooms and pubs allow pets inside.
Coming to Christmas? Dress your dog in a classic puppy park like Canada Pooch Premium Parka and head to Midtown to collect window displays. Then enjoy the hot cocoa of Rockefeller and puppaccino trees.
Surfside Beach Pet-friendly Vacation Rentals
The coastal wilderness meets the charm of a small town in Bar Harbor, Maine. Business owners along the highway are expanding their love of dogs with establishments such as Coffee Hands (which insists on posting your dog photos online) and Bark Harbor (pet stores and bakeries). Steumen, who loves local seafood, proudly greets the dog with a cheerful sign on its deck.
Just a 15-minute drive outside the city takes visitors to the beautiful Acadia National Park. It includes a 158-mile hiking trail and a 45-mile car lane where furry pets are allowed to explore with their active parents.
For a relaxing experience, head to Jordan Pond House for a drink and tea in their famous home, then take a stroll around the pool. Then drive to the nearby Cadillac Peak to watch the sunset.
Southern hospitality attracts travelers from around the world. Historically rich and beautiful, the South is a great vacation spot. From the jungle desert to the birthplace of jazz and all the incredible food in between, the South is a haven for dog-friendly travel.
Miami Beach Pet Friendly Hotels
Located in the high desert of western Texas, Marfa is a 3-hour drive from the nearby airport, making it a destination for those who love great road trips. (Get directions for traveling by car with your dog here.) Marfa is known as the Mecca Art Tourism City, and visitors appreciate its historic architecture, great food options and artisan shops. In addition, those who like mysteries to visit to receive the unique bright phenomenon known as Marfa Lights. In addition, most attractions and accommodations welcome dogs of all shapes and sizes.
Pet parents have many options for living and each has their own vi. Glampers can enjoy a classic RV teepee or bring their own tent / campervan at the great El Cosmico. Common facilities include a kitchen and a shower outside the garden, a hammock (where Quigley and I spent hours reading and sleeping) and a cozy inn. You can visit the Hotel St. George.
Dog parents swear by great food Marfa Burrito, Pizza Foundation, Food Shark and Capri. Before or after your meal, the best place to relax and meet the locals is Planet Marfa, a hacienda-style park with a dance floor and a sunken teepee.
The owner, John, is known to have seen the group on his winter bus to see the mysterious lights. Formerly a bloodthirsty presenter, John entertained Quigley for hours while exchanging personal stories.
South Padre Island Dog Friendly Hotels And Activities
New Orleans is a city I spent most of my childhood and I can not wait to go back with my four-legged friends! The city is not lacking in inspiration, with colors, music and historical details around every corner. The city is walkable and a world-class experience. Travel + Leisure names New Orleans “the No. 1 city for food in the United States” and you will say the same thing when your mouth is not full.
We will not recommend stops (or four) at the Café du Monde immediately. Dogs can join their parents on the patio, but my personal advice is to accept your order to go. Enjoy your coffee and a little fire from the café while watching street performers dance, sing and perform in the magnificent Jackson Square. If you prefer something more sophisticated with your meal, Broussard offers a three-course jazz lunch.
For a classic New Orleans meal, you can’t go wrong with Po Boy. Quigley loves little dogs from Johnny’s Po Boys, the oldest family restaurant in New Orleans. Dogs are not allowed inside, so we recommend going for a meal by the river. Nearby, Voldenerg Park has many locations, large meadows and beautiful views of the river.
New Orleans also has an awesome history and the city will allow you and your pets to join in on some awesome fun. After dark, the city offers scary walks, and groups like the French Quarter Phantoms or Witches Burrow let the dogs join in.
